About Mr Bailey

What can I help with?

Mr Bailey is a consultant orthopaedic knee surgeon with specific expertise in sports knee injuries, knee ligament reconstruction, and modern techniques in treating both early and late knee arthritis.

What experience do I have?

Mr Bailey was awarded an honours medical degree from the University of Glasgow and a Masters degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of Bath.  After completing 8-years of specialty orthopaedic registrar training in the West of Scotland this was followed by sub-specialty fellowships in soft tissue knee reconstruction and complex knee trauma at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital and Birmingham's Military Level 1 Trauma centre.

Mr Bailey has developed a sub-specialist expertise and interest in knee preservation surgery, keyhole knee surgery, sports knee injuries, knee replacement surgery, and complex knee trauma.

In 2019 Mr Bailey developed the expert Acute Knee Service in NHS Lanarkshire where he is a substantive NHS consultant leading a high volume practice in treating all knee injuries and degenerative conditions.  He has helped countless patients recover their mobility by delivering patient centred, evidenced based treatment.  From the first clinic review he is dedicated to ensuring you receive the highest possible care.

Mr Bailey is actively involved in high level research on a number of multi centre trials involving knee injuries and disease.  Along with his research interests he is actively involved in teaching and education and leads on a wide range of courses, conferences, and registrar teaching programs.  In his spare time he has contributed to book chapters on knee injuries and is an active member of the Royal College education board helping to meet the educational needs of current and future surgeons.

On his days off he enjoys running and spending time with his wife and son.
